Biography

Cavetown was born on 15 December 1998 in Oxford, England. Their music interest was inspired by his father, David Skinner, who was a musicologist and choir director, and taught him how to play the acoustic guitar at eight years old. Their mother is a professional music teacher and flautist. They were raised in Cambridge and educated at Parkside Community College from 2010-2015 and Hills Road Sixth Form College from 2015-2017.

A self-taught record producer, Cavetown began using the app GarageBand, and was gifted the music production software Logic from his father as a Christmas gift.[1]

Their debut single "This Is Home" was released in August 2015, followed by his eponymous debut studio album in November.

He met manager Zack Zarrillo in January 2018 and played at a concert later in May 2018 that caught the attention of Rani Hancock, president of Sire Records. His fourth studio album, Sleepyhead, was released on 27 March 2020.
